You can delete your LightSignal account yourself, on the web or in the LightSignal app for iPhone, iPad or Android. This page explains the steps, what is deleted and when, and what we keep.
Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account. Use the steps below.
On the web
- Sign in at lightsignal.app.
- Open Settings, then Data & Privacy.
- Under "Export & delete my account", click Start deletion.
- Read the confirmation and click Start deletion again.
In the iPhone and iPad app
- Sign in and open the menu (on iPad, the sidebar).
- Tap Settings, then Data & Privacy.
- Under "Export & delete my account", tap Start deletion.
- Read the confirmation and tap Start deletion again.
In the Android app
- Sign in and open the menu.
- Tap Settings, then Data & Privacy.
- Under "Export & delete my account", tap Start deletion.
- Read the confirmation and tap Start deletion again.
What happens when you start deletion
- Your subscription is cancelled at that moment, so there are no further charges.
- If QuickBooks is connected, the connection is removed with Intuit and your QuickBooks data is deleted at that point.
- A 14-day grace period starts. During those 14 days you can still sign in, everything is read-only, and every page shows the date your account will be deleted with a Restore button. Restore takes you through checkout for a new subscription. If QuickBooks was connected, you reconnect it after restoring.
After the 14 days
Your account information and connected-tool data are permanently deleted, and your sign-in stops working. The deleted data leaves the live service at that point.
What we keep, and for how long
- Backups. Deleted data leaves our encrypted backups on their normal schedule. The longest any backup is kept is 12 months.
- Records we need for legal, tax, security or audit purposes. These may be kept longer, for as long as those purposes need them, as section 7 of our Privacy Policy explains.
